I went back to Anne and Damien’s to collect my lovely friend Sybille l’atelier mobile. She’d been so patient. We had a coffee, then set off towards Parc de la Jeunesse.
And then I got stuck in the park. It was hot. Really hot. I sat in the shade, didn’t engage with people, didn’t move through the commune. Just sat. After a good while I phoned Anne to see if I could leave Sybille there again, but she wasn’t home, and the neighbours weren’t home either. So I made my own way back.
I’m struggling a lot with expectations of myself — of what this project should look like, what I should be doing each day. And I’m working on letting go of that. Letting things happen as and when they happen.
What I did do was work on my crochet, and on Monkey. Monkey is a work in progress — a found-object figure slowly coming together. That day she got lips, made from a baby shoe. You can see her taking shape in the photo. She’s not finished. Neither is any of this, really. And that’s fine.

My answer to the question : What do yo need to feel at home?, is the freedom to be Unapologetically 100% myself
On the way home I took the S-train for the first time — the little train that loops around Brussels. You can’t use your metro card on it, which is a shame because it cuts so much time. I was worried I wouldn’t manage, but I did. Vincent helped with the last bit. 🚆 and then we went to Jazz days in the centre, too much!

No walking, but not nothing. Ea was around so we hung out. I worked on a bag for the front of Sybille l’atelier mobile, cleared more of my studio space, started several things without finishing any of them. And the flea market — that was genuinely lovely. 🛍️
