Day 72 of the Walking Home project

Day 72 of the Walking Home project 🌱

4km walked on the spiral today (11.5km in total)

I finally got myself together and went out – slowly feeling a bit better.

Took the metro with Sybille l’atelier mobile to Botanique, then walked back to where I’d left off, heading into Molenbeek.

Nice weather, not so many people, but nice.

Met some curious people along the way and asked them my question – what do you need to feel at home? “verbondenheid” – connectedness. With people, neighbours, family, and yourself. The husband said that since the holidays he’s really been working on reconnecting with himself. So sweet.

Then through colourful Saint-Josse, down past North Station – past the streets where the sex workers work, everyone very friendly – and over the bridge under the tunnel to the other side.

Into Maximilien Park, where a lot of refugees gather. I didn’t want to intrude – it felt too obvious what they need to feel at home: housing, papers. So many people without papers here. It’s really sad.

Sat for a bit, sorted through some things in Sybille, had my sandwiches, and carried on, past all the tall buildings.

Then into Molenbeek – I love Molenbeek. So many colours, so many people, so friendly.

Then it started raining and I ran for it, got to Maison des Cultures and left the cart there. I’ll pick it up later and keep walking around.

I’ll be at the Open Molen festivities this Sunday with the cart, somewhere near the Parvis Saint Jean Baptist – come find me and help me collect answers to the question! 🧡image1.jpegimage3.jpegimage4.jpegimage5.jpegimage6.jpegimage7.jpegimage8.jpegimage9.jpegimage10.jpegimage11.jpegimage12.jpegimage13.jpegimage14.jpegimage15.jpeg
