day 5, 31 march audergem to woluwe saint lambert

Day 4 — March 31 | 12.5 km | Oudergem · Woluwe-Saint-Pierre · Woluwe-Saint-Lambert

Picked up Sybille l’atelier mobile at Shura and Andreas’s and walked through three communes to Op-Weule, where she’s stored — and from where I set out again today.

It’s taking longer than expected to really settle into the rhythm of the walk. To stop, sit down in the middle of the street, and sew. Harder than I thought. But I did it. Sat down at the church square in Oudergem, got out the sewing machine — works beautifully — and sewed a rain cover for Sybille l’atelier mobile from bags I found along the way. Some funny looks. Not many conversations yet. But that’s okay. I need a flag. I need to make what I’m doing more visible. It’ll come.

Then through the Rouge-Cloître — ducks, water, late afternoon light. Worth every step.

And there: an answer to my question “What makes you feel at home?” — from a parkwachter who didn’t hesitate for a second:

“Connection to both people and nature.”

Standing in the middle of all that green. It landed perfectly.

Called Op-Weule to confirm the workshop in two weeks — and soon we’ll meet in person when I pass through. Came home to my son. We ate together and called the other one. That was enough.

I’m actually doing this!!
