Yesterday was day three of the walk. 3,5 km in totaI didn’t walk much, but I went to the communal garden of serre moi fort — and it turned out to be a really heartwarming day.
I arrived to find nobody there, so I set up Sybille, got out my sewing machine, and sewed for the very first time running on battery power. It worked! Very exciting. I also discovered a new challenge: wind. Cutting paper outside when the wind has other plans is… an extra layer of everything. But there are always more solutions than problems.
Then the women arrived. Alice — my contact there, together with her husband Pierre — introduced me and invited me to share the project. So I asked the question: What is home to you? What does it mean? What do you need to feel at home?
They really took their time with it. Different words came up — warmth, friends, family, memories. But also: being outside, walking, views over fields, being in the woods. Near or far.
The textile work I’d made that day felt like it was already in conversation with what my friend Shura had shared the day before — that home, for her, is about friends and family. About feeling you can be yourself. Feeling sheltered, somehow.
I don’t know yet how it will all take shape. But it is taking shape.
I left Sybille at Shura and Andreas’ place for the night and went home. Updated the website (the one I thought I’d already updated — turns out I hadn’t).
It’s very exciting to have started. Tomorrow I walk again. This week, a lot.

Today was a rest day — Sybille needed some repairing after Day 1! Turns out knocking off a leg on your very first outing is a rite of passage. 🛒✨
Luckily, the neighbour of my dear friends Shura and Andreas knows how to weld — and now she’s better than ever.
Also: my daughter Ea made me the most beautiful apron. I’ve been wearing it with full pride. A repaired cart, a handmade apron, and tomorrow we walk again. 🌀
See you on the road!
