17-5, day 24 rain and magic

Day 24 — 5.6 km on the spiral. 🌀 (11.2 km total all day)
The day started at Luc’s. He said he was busy, so I got Sybille l’atelier mobile out and was ready to go — but we ended up hanging out talking anyway, and then he came for coffee after all. We talked about history and philosophy. That was good.
Then I sent a message to Francis — the guy I met last week — to say I was in the neighbourhood and did he want to come visit the cemetery with me. The oldest cemetery in Belgium, in Laken, where there’s a Rodin. He did. We hung out. I think he may have thought I was romantically interested in him, but I told him I’m not.
And then I walked along the Serres Royales — the King’s greenhouses — and that’s when it started raining. Seriously.
I spotted a buvette — an outdoor café with a canopy. It was closed, but sheltering underneath: Happening Total — 15 friends from Switzerland on an art holiday, suitcases full of paper, stamps, plasticine, flea market finds. They invited me in to create with them. I got out Sybille l’atelier mobile and my sewing machine. One of them had just ripped his trousers. He took them off. I fixed them.
THAT is what I’m doing this for.
In Schweizerdeutsch, home is hei. I asked what makes you feel at home. Lena said: “Friends.” There were pictures and smoke bombs and then I was on my way again.
Under the Atomium, I asked four people. “Tranquillity and peace in my heart.” “Where there is love.” Two others were in a hurry. And then one tried to sell me Jesus. That’s a different question.
Ended the day doing the metro with Sybille l’atelier mobile for the first time — ramp, bicycle compartment, escalators, uphill streets. Then Vincent’s 60th birthday at the Liban restaurant.
In bed before midnight. YAY! 🎉
